Pakistan’s startups raised more venture dollars in the first three quarters of 2021 than the previous six years combined, with the city of Lahore ranking highest in the country in terms of startup activity in The Global Startups Ecosystem Index report of 2021, raising it to 4th place in all of Southeast Asia.

The success of Foodpanda, Careem and Daraz, part of Pakistan’s first startup wave, brought the capital and know-how for the current generation. This, along with an ongoing rise in internet use among the population and the global challenges of COVID driving people around the world to be entrepreneurs is contributing to Pakistan’s growth as a startup ecosystem hub.
