Kippa is a book-keeping mobile app that allows small businesses to effortlessly track and analyze all transactions such as credit, expenses, and sales. It provides microbusiness owners, shopkeepers, and entrepreneurs in Africa with simple yet valuable insights into the financial health of their businesses through intuitive business reports. It's accessible on any device, syncs to the cloud, and requires minimal data to operate.

We are a very early-stage startup founded by a small team of young Africans with previous experience at top global companies. Our founding team previously built TikTok’s Africa business and founded a recruiting startup that helped SaaS companies around the world hire elite engineering talent from Africa. We are backed by some of the most prominent fintech investors in the world (Target Global Ventures, Entrée Capital, Alter Global, Sriram Krishnan, Raffael Johnen, Alan Rutledge, Musha Ventures, Rally Cap VC, amongst others). We are advised by Libby Moore (Oprah Winfrey’s longest-serving Chief of Staff).

You will assume the role of Senior Product Manager at Kippa. This role will potentially metamorphose into a Head of Product role depending on performance.

The Role

At Kippa, product development is an extremely collaborative effort between engineering, design, analytics, and customer-facing teams. You’d be joining an early team of Engineers, Data Analysts, one Product Designer, and one Senior Product Growth Manager.

We are looking for a Product Manager who’s passionate about building a generational company that impacts how small businesses run and grow. You ideally would be keen to learn the complex payments landscape and will help build new products and help simplify the Kippa app experience.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • 6+ years of experience in a product role
  • Experience with building financial technology products for illiterate users
  • Built products by collaborating across engineering, analytics, marketing, design, and other key stakeholders
  • Approached product management from a user’s vantage point and is motivated by the chance to improve the lives of customer
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a precise talent for articulating customer challenges
  • Experience managing technical software products from kick-off to ship
  • A whatever-it-takes approach to ensure that your product and team are successful
  • The ability to turn incomplete, conflicting, or ambiguous inputs into solid action plans
  • Not only shipped new products, but is obsessed with continuous product improvement and can optimize for shipping a portfolio of small, medium, and large releases
  • Started or ran a business before.


What you will do:

  • Lead and facilitate a cross-functional team to design and execute experiments that improve key funnel conversion rates, e.g. sign up, activation (transaction recording + adding customers), funding wallets.
  • Set the direction, objectives, and shape of the growth experimentation program at Kippa
  • Develop and maintain quantitative and visual growth models
  • Own and maintain an ongoing experiments backlog, including doing rigorous prioritization based on the expected value
  • Build a product development process for Kippa from scratch
  • Be responsible for the enhancement of the existing product including - ideation, product development cycle, and launch
  • Lead the documentation, validation, and verification of critical performance data, feedback, and findings related to the customer journey
  • Inspire action across different teams to build, ship, collect feedback and iterate quickly
  • Incorporating feedback from consumers, data inputs, market intelligence, research, competitor analysis, and design features/functionalities to always keep miles ahead of the competition.
  • Gathering post-launch client feedback, measuring performance, and quickly capturing learnings to adapt the product.
  • Be the subject matter expert and owner for Product at Kippa
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders in Design, Engineering, Marketing, Research, and Strategy to build bar-raising experiences
  • Roll up your sleeves to remove barriers and obstacles hindering the team's ability to ship
  • Represent Kippa's Product team internally and externally
